Made with 100% natural, renewable and vegan-friendly materials, the ECOTAT range offers PMU hygiene supplies that are made from environmentally friendly materials - it’s a no-brainer for many PMU artists!

What is PLA, and how is it different?

Most of the ECOTAT range is made from PLA, a material that’s just as durable as petroleum-based plastic while being lighter and thinner. In practice it’s no different from the standard plastic hygiene materials - all the usual rules around safety and disposal apply - but the real differences lie in its creation.

PLA is a type of polyester that’s made from fermented plant starch - in this case, corn. By starting off with a plant that’s easily grown, the resulting product can be classified as vegan and renewable. The sugar in corn is fermented and turned into lactic acid, which is then made into polylactic acid – or PLA, as it is known.

Producing PLA uses around 65% less energy than conventional plastics, with 68% fewer greenhouse gases being created - that may not seem like much, but over hundreds and thousands of products, those numbers really add up!

Once the material has served its purpose it’ll still need to be disposed of with medical waste - however, as it contains no toxins and isn’t made of plastic, it will decompose faster and with fewer harmful materials left behind.

ECOTAT Barrier Grip & Cord Sleeves

All qualified, working PMU artists know the importance of properly wrapping equipment before any work is done – but not all barriers are made equal.

ECOTAT offer two sizes of barrier grip in 21mm and 25mm, so you can find the perfect size to keep your machine hygienic and secure. You can also find your cord sleeves here - they come in a 50mm length, or you can buy a 250m roll of 800mm sleeve that can be cut down to the exact length you need. Perfect for minimising waste, or for using on different lengths of cords!

ECOTAT Bottle & Power Supply Covers

Keeping all your tools of the trade hygienic, ECOTAT bottle covers are made to fit rinse and wash bottles, measuring 150mm x 250mm. The bag-shaped covers have an open top which can be wrapped around the spout of the bottle for easy use and maximum hygiene.

The power supply covers come as square bags measuring 140mm x 140mm and can easily slide over most power supplies - including the Critical AtomX Power Supply - while still being thin enough to use the buttons on the supply.

Surface Protection Sheets

These all-purpose surface protecting sheets are ideal for work stations, trays, tables, and anything else that needs a barrier protection. Each sheet is 1200mm x 900mm but they’re easily cut down to size, so they can be used to protect a wide range of surfaces!

By spraying a few drops of water onto your surface you can improve the clinginess of the protection sheet and help it to stay in place longer.

Cartridge Trays

The only non-PLA product from ECOTAT, these cartridge trays are made from recycled paper pulp, which is another sustainable alternative to plastic. While PLA is thin and light, paper pulp is sturdy, making it perfect for holding your cartridges!

The slight lift at the back of these trays ensures the cartridges are pointing downwards and held securely. There’s also a small reservoir at the bottom of each cartridge space for water to keep your cartridges from drying out.

Sample Kit

If you can’t decide which covers, wraps and sheets would work best for your clinic, you could try out the sample set which comes with 2x bottle covers, 2x clipcord covers, 2x machine covers and 2x surface covers. A great opportunity to try out a new, less wasteful setup or for catering to a particular client!

Why should you make the switch?

More and more people are adopting a vegan lifestyle which goes beyond dietary choices, and they will usually seek out treatments that fit these requirements. By only using products that aren’t derived in any way from animals, you can promote your treatment as vegan friendly, and open your books to vegan clients. Even if you don’t have a completely vegan clinic, you can still use ECOTAT to minimise your carbon footprint and environmental impact – which is always a positive step.

For those who are actively trying to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics - which are unavoidable in the PMU industry for hygiene reasons – this may be the best solution on the market right now to try and work in a more eco-conscious way.

The more inclusive you are, the better positioned you are to attract a steady stream of clients from far and wide. Both vegan and environmentally friendly credentials can help you to reach a whole new demographic of people, as well as keeping those existing clients who are becoming more concerned about their environmental impact.

If you’re a vegan PMU artist, this is probably exactly the kind of product range you’ve been looking for, and can be complemented with vegan pigments from Perma Blend, Ever After, Artyst and Goldeneye, among others - check in the product description for confirmation of individual products’ vegan (and cruelty-free!) status.
